CCTV camera

We have a Working Group assigned to look into the recommissioning of the CCTV cameras in East Stoke and provision of cameras in Thorpe.

The Working Group will publish updates here as the project progresses.

The Parish Council’s point of contact for the project is Cllr Sid Davies

Working Group’s first update…

For many years East Stoke residents enjoyed the security of CCTV within the Village. The system was installed in 2009 on the initiative of some residents. Throughout many years of operation the cameras acted as a deterrent to would be perpetrators, provided evidence and intelligence to the Police and afforded a sense of security, safety and comfort for many residents. The system fell into decline through lack ofinvestment and the absence of management, interest and organisation.

A working group has been set up to report to the Parish Council on the feasibility of re-instating the system and the inaugural meeting of the group was held on the 15th August 2023. The scope of the study will include the likes of possible funding streams, resident’s appetite for CCTV, both capital purchase and ongoing annual costs and the technical specification, location and data control compliance for any suitable system.

The working group through Councillor Sid Davies will report to the Parish Council on the initial progress made at the next parish Council meeting on the 12th September 2023.
